Dance Key Stage 3 - Years 7, 8 & 9

 Year 7 - Bollywood

This to topic in Dance will teach you about the cultural Dance style "Bollywood." You will learn all about the steps and performance skills required for this piece of dance.

 Year 8 - Grease

This topic in Dance will teach you about the dance genre Musical Theatre. You will study in detail the movement used in the Musical Grease. Your aim is to be able to re-create the dance routines from the songs “Born to Hand Jive” and “Grease Lighting”.

 

Year 9- Street Jazz

 As this is your last term studying Dance you will get the chance to learn movements from different types of genre of Jazz. You will learn a Street Jazz routine which will include break dancing actions. This unit allows you to re-create your own routines to your style of music.

Dance Homework

Research Project (To be completed over 6 weeks)

1. Find out 5 facts about Bollywood Dance. 

2. Describe or draw out the Bollywood Motif.

3. Describe or draw out the costumes used for a female and male dancer in Bollywood.

4. You will be given a worksheet to complete to test your knowledge on the Dance keywords used in Dance.  

6. Complete a piece of writing explaining how your final Dance Assessment of Ghost Dances went. You need to identify 2-4 good points and 2-4 improvements. (You can complete this as a poster)

Research Project (To be completed over 6 weeks)

1. Find out 5-15 facts on the musical Grease. You may include the ones you learnt in the Dance lesson.

2. Describe or draw out the Hand jive Motif

3. Imagine you are putting on a production of Grease at Kings High School. Draw a poster advertising the production.

 4. Explain the meanings of 5-10 Dance keywords you have learnt or used in the Grease Unit.  

5. Complete a piece of writing explaining how your final Dance Assessment of Slavery Dances went. You need to include:

 1. Introduction- Explain what the assessment was about.

2. identify 2-4 good points and 2-4 improvements.

(You can complete this as a poster)

1. Find out 10 - 20 facts on the Jazz Genre

2. Describe or draw out Street Jazz Motif(You need to include a detail descripition of which hand, feet and eye line should be used)

3. Describe or do a step by step guide into how you choreographed your Street Jazz routines or Thriller.  

4. Explain the meanings of 5-10 Dance keywords you have learnt or used in the Street Jazz unit.
